E.A. Young Academy is founded on the philosophy that gifted, talented and high ability scholars:

• thrive in an educational setting with other advanced scholars where the curriculum is differentiated and allows for mindful, in-depth study

• require thoughtful attention to their social/emotional development

• do not benefit from a setting that fails to make demands on their abilities

• require faculty who are uniquely trained to select and adapt the content of curriculum to the mental caliber of each scholar they teach

E.A. Young Academy incorporates a combination of instructional modalities to include small group instruction, large group instruction, small group collaboration, virtual instruction, and independent research/study.

This model is specifically designed to increase scholar engagement, deepen integration and understanding, promote active learning, and ensure future academic success. Strategies for each scholar incorporate:
n Self-directed, project-based learning driven by constructivist pedagogy
n Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) for all scholars emphasizing student needs and interests
n Technology-infused environment and incorporation of 21st Century Skills
n Individual/group projects complemented by multiple teaching and learning approaches
n Linking skills and concepts aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
n Differentiated instruction
n Authentic Assessment

Consistently within all competency areas you will see Project Based Learning, or, PBL. Project-based learning is a comprehensive instructional approach to engage students in sustained, cooperative investigation. Scholars pursue solutions to problems by: asking and refining questions, dialoging ideas, making predictions, designing plans and/or experiments, collecting and analyzing data, drawing conclusions, communicating their ideas and findings to others, asking new questions and creating artifacts.

E.A. Young Academy admits scholars of any race, color, creed, sex, or national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made to scholars at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, or national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
